Saints Call of Duty win first-ever CCL Championship

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS - Following a disappointing 4th place finish last year, the Saints Call of Duty team rebounded with a dominating 2026 campaign to claim their first ever College Call of Duty League (CCL) North American Championship.

The Saints entered the 2026 CCL Championships as the 2nd seed. In the group stage, they diced through Wichita State University, Texas State University and Mars Hill University without dropping a single game to punch their ticket to the Top 4 bracket.

The onslaught continued with the Saints tearing through Cumberland University, 3-0, in the Semifinals before dispatching the first-seeded Fisher College to advance to the Grand Finals. There, they rematched against Fisher and once again came out on top, this time with a 4-1 score to secure the Championship.

Rodrigo Armendáriz was named Grand Finals MVP for his standout performance.

“Our team may be international by origin, but they’re unmistakably Canadian in spirit. Each of them came here chasing opportunities they couldn’t find in their home countries,” said Assistant Esports Director Chris Funston. “They are the hardest working group of students we’ve ever had in the program. They haven’t taken a single moment for granted.”

This year, the Saints touted a 54-2 record with their only two losses coming to Fisher College earlier in the season.
