Saints take home NACE North American Championships in COD, RL

It was a winning weekend for St. Clair College’s Esports Program, winning the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Call of Duty and Rocket League Varsity Premier Championships.

The Saints Call of Duty Team won their fourth-straight NACE championship displaying dominance in their Grand Finals match against Cumberland University. It was a rematch of last Spring’s final, which ended in the same result of a 4-0 sweep for the Saints.

Rodrigo “Ruper” Armendáriz, of Mexico, was named match MVP.

In Rocket League, the Saints faced-off against the University of Akron in a rematch of the Fall 2024 Grand Finals. The Saints avenged their previous defeat on route to a nail-biting 4-3 victory. The win marks the first NACE championship for the Saints Rocket League team.

James “Jazii” Janzen, of Germany, was named match MVP.

“These results really show the overall strength of the program we’ve built,” said Assistant Esports Director Chris Funston. “To compete against these titans of collegiate esports and come out on top truly speaks to the hard work and dedication of our players and staff.”
