Saints Esports awarded ESPORTSU Program of the Year
History was made for the St. Clair College esports program this past weekend at the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC) after being awarded as the ESPORTSU Program of the Year, the first time a Canadian school has ever received the prestigious award.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to be recognized by your peers and people that you admire,” said Assistant Esports Director Chris Funston. “For all that we do, none of it would be possible without our students, our coaches, players and staff behind the scenes. The support we receive is truly remarkable.”
The Program of the Year award was determined based on a school’s core values and their dedication to their community, academics and competition.
Other Program of the Year finalists included Cumberland University, Boise State University, Maryville University and Concord University.
“St. Clair esports, most importantly the leadership and culture, is everything I strive to be,” said Sari Kitelyn, Director of Esports and Project Development for Full Sail University. “St Clair is my biggest source of inspiration, motivation and camaraderie in the space. I love this whole crew. Well deserved doesn’t begin to cover it.”
