Saints Call of Duty Qualify for NACE National Championship
The St. Clair Saints Call of Duty team will be joining League of Legends in qualifying for the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) National Finals in Philadelphia.
The Call of Duty team entered NACE playoffs as the 2nd seed with a perfect 7-0 regular season record. With dominating wins over Keyano College and Ontario Tech University in the first two rounds, they found themselves matched up against 6th seed St. Edward’s University in the semifinals with a national championship appearance on the line. The series was back and forth early on, but the Saints were able to take a complete stranglehold on the series with three-straight decisive victories to punch their ticket to Philadelphia.
“The extra practice the team put in has been a huge factor for playoffs. We just need to keep putting in that extra work and we’ll be prepared for our championship series,” said Head Coach Zarin Bartholomew following the victory.
The Saints will take on 1st seed, and reigning National Champions, Northwood University in the National Finals on Dec. 3-4. Northwood is quickly turning into a rival for the team after most recently taking down the Saints in the Grand Finals of last week’s College Call of Duty Open Kickoff by a score of 3-2.
”We’ll be out for some revenge and we know we can compete with them. What better time than the National Championship to show it,” added Bartholomew.
